the demise-the braxton mysteries?
Near Nashville, Tiny Braxton, Tennessee, is a peaceful, close-knit community centered on an old town square. Peter Lanham, the handsome and adored CEO of Lanham’s Fine Foods, had grown a small, family-owned grocery store founded in 1927 into a successful national chain. However, when the town’s most prominent citizen is discovered dead at the base of its water tower, news of Peter Lanham’s apparent suicide roars through the town like a massive tsunami. When word got out that Peter had passed away, most of the people who lived in Braxton were working for Lanham’s corporate headquarters. As a result, they were looking for answers. What could possibly have made him take a swan dive off that tower? Julie Parker is persuaded that he did not. As receptionist at Lanham’s executive office suite, she’s determined to find out what really happened to her boss. Julie is an aspirant actor who also portrays “The Lanham Girl” in the television commercials for the company. She is proud of her ability to observe people clearly and interact well with others. Who better to inquire about Peter’s whereabouts on that water tower? As a rookie Special Agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Matt Bryson is not going to let the pretty receptionist interfere with his first case. Despite the fact that she is a local insider, he is perfectly capable of solving the case without “Miss Marple” interfering with his investigation. The setting is perfect, there are a cast of oddball characters, and there is just enough drama to cause a lot of suspicion. The stage is set.
